At Musafir, our commitment begins at source and runs deep into the soil. We believe coffee should be grown with care for the land, respect for the people who cultivate it, and responsibility for the future it shapes. Ethical sourcing and regenerative farming are not just ideals for us—they guide every step of our journey.

Across Indonesia, we have built direct partnerships with more than 200 farms across Java, Bali, Flores, Sulawesi & Timor. At the heart of these relationships are the farmers we proudly call artisans. They are not simply producers, but skilled stewards of the land—people who understand the rhythms of the seasons, the language of the soil, and the patience required to cultivate exceptional coffee.

Working closely with these farming communities allows us to support practices that restore and protect the ecosystems where coffee grows. Many farms follow traditional shade-grown systems, where coffee trees grow beneath citrus, fruit, and native forest trees. Farmers enrich the soil with organic compost, protect the biodiversity around their farms, and cultivate coffee within agroforestry landscapes that strengthen the land rather than exhaust it. These practices help rebuild soil health, support wildlife, and create farms that can adapt to changing climates.

Traceability is central to how we work. We know where each coffee bean is grown and who cared for it along the way. This transparency ensures farmers are fairly compensated for their craft and that value returns to the communities who nurture these landscapes. By building long-term relationships, we help create stability for farmers and encourage farming practices that protect the land for generations to come.

For us, sourcing coffee is not simply about buying beans. It is about honoring the artisans behind them and the landscapes that sustain them. Every cup reflects the care of the farmers, the vitality of Indonesia’s volcanic soils, and a shared commitment to doing things the right way.
